Celebrate the first night of Chanukah, the Jewish festival of lights, with the entire community at our annual extravaganza in the heart of Islington. Introducing: the world's first kinetic laser menorah created by digital artist Jeremy Keenan (Central Saint Martins).
Come and be wowed by the ceremony of lighting the spectacular new laser menorah and take part in our evening programme with a futuristic spin. Dance to the electro klezmer set by collective GhettoPlotz, hear sci-fi stories from Vanessa Woolf about Chanukah in space (featuring a guest appearance by robots & space debris), and play dreidel of the future.
There will also be the much-loved golden oldies: hundreds of latkes and doughnuts for everyone, ancient songs, instrumental klezmer, Chanukah gelt, and shadow puppet workshop with the Little Angel Theatre.
Take part in our free raffle: jewishislington.co.uk/chanukah
This event is free and open to all - please join with your family, friends and neighbours.
The Islington Menorah Lighting has grown to become the second-biggest public menorah lighting in the UK, bringing together Jewish and non-Jewish members of the community, from Islington and beyond. The event is supported by a grant from Islington Council and hosted by Chabad Islington.
